WOOLLY SHEEP SWATCHES - we have added these to each of our wools and fibres! All you need to do is go to the wool/fibre type you are interested in and find the Woolly Sheep Swatch in the drop down menu. Your felt sheep will have at least 2g of your fibre choice wrapped around it with a tag so you can identify the wool. These are great to collect and if you buy 10 or more in one order we will add a large metal ring for free so you can have your very own sheep pen!
We offer a Find A Fibre service! Simply email us at findafibre@themakerss.co.uk and tell us what you are looking to make - if you can include an image or colour photograph, that's even better! Our team of felting experts will then recommend the best batts, tops and/or curls that will work for your project! You can then take our suggestions on board when you are ready to place an order.
The service is totally free and we will endeavour to answer your query within 7 days.

Let customers speak for us
from 1796 reviewsThe mortar board is brilliant. I am going to make a felt figure for my granddaughter’s graduation later this year. Thank you
Very clear instructions on pdf
I have 2 of these (bought 1 & later got 1 in a suprise bag) & a mini version (Advent Calendar gift) as well as an Earth Mat. These work well & are great value for money, however, I still use my Earth Mat more. The main reason being the loose fibres that come off the surface & edges of these mats irritate my skin.
I've a condition that causes skin hypersensitivity, I can't wear wool-rich fabrics or crochet with them, but I've never had any issues working with wool for needle felting before so was really surprised when I had a flare-up. I mainly do 2D landscapes & haven't had any problems except when using structural core felt & the eco mats, so I think it's the loose, shorter/fine fibres that cause the irritation. If I do use these, I make sure to fully cover the mats & my skin but can only work on them for a short time.
But just because they don't work for me doesn't mean they won't be perfect for you! I'm just giving a heads-up to any other felters that may have similar skin irritability issues (& possibly asthmatics) that, in my opinion, these do "shed" & a cover (I've got a felt one, could use cotton?) would probably be something to consider using.
I loved had an option on no paper instructions. The QR code is a good alternative. This was a easy make and I love making birds. Steffi takes you step by step through the process. There is also a video tutorial available for this little one. I just made two because I just loved this project so much. Can highly recommend this project for beginners and futher.
They are all great. Thank you
Cute product!
Very good instructions with plenty of pictures to follow
Delighted with the Sheep feltie as we are visiting the Lake District. A lovely compact kit which I will enjoy helping my granddaughter with. The felting mat is also just what I wanted. Thank you
Looking forward to trying
Well written and layered good photos and easy to follow. Excellent Always a pleasure to needle felt from the Makerss PDFS
Absolutely fantastic for beginners. Highly recommend.
He’s absolutely spot on! I hope I can do a good job. And keep that very special Look as I adore Shaun the Sheep
This kit made one darling Jacob sheep with lots of leftover wool. I love the idea of using each sheep’s own wool. Clear easy step by step directions.
Perfect for a wildlife picture
these are great to get you started on 3D needle felting
